About Oleg
Oleg is a registered Qigong practitioner and a commitee member of the New Zealand Qigong and Traditional Chinese Medicine Association. He holds a diploma of Chinese Herbal Medicine from the New Zealand School of Acupuncture and TCM, finishing the Bachelor of Health Science majoring in Acupuncture in 2012.
Learning traditional styles
Oleg started learning basic internal energy techniques in 1999, along with the studies of traditional Japanese martial art Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto Ryu and Ryushinkan Aikido.
In 2001 he suffered serious injury (fell off the rock while mountaineering) however managed to recover quickly using the skills he gained through his training. After his first trip to Asia where he went to India and Nepal, he also began studying Hatha-Yoga and Pranayama from master Nagendra Kamath of Indian Embassy Cultural Centre in Moscow.
In 2003 he joined the reputable "Golden Flower" School of Internal martial arts in Moscow where he had his first exposure to Wudang Tai-Ji Quan system known as "Golden Flower" and its associated Qigong practices.
In 2004 he arrived in New Zealand and continued his training under Mr. Chen Jia Jun, an assistant martial arts professor of Beijing University of Physical Education. After his initial compulsory training in Shaolin Kung-Fu, Oleg found himself absorbed into Xing Yi Quan, the "Form and Intent boxing" based on the use of Qi, the internal energy. Mr. Chen's Xing Yi Quan lineage is from Sun Lu Tang, a great internal martial arts master and founder of Sun style Tai Chi.
In 2005 Oleg visited his first teacher in Moscow and was introduced into some practices that resulted in visible improvement of his skill as well as emotional and physical well-being. These practices did not have anything to do with martial arts directly being a pure energy cultivation techniques based on Esoteric Christianity. Back in New Zealand afterwards, he started learning esoteric Buddhist spontaneous Qigong from Dr. Sunny Lu in Auckland. Despite having completely different origin and tradition behind, Buddhist Qigong produced very similar results as the Christian practices pointing to the intrinsic unity between these energy practices. Already a year later Oleg tried to treat some friends with Qigong and Christian techniques and some of the treatments were quite successful.
Taiwan
In 2007 Oleg went to Taiwan to meet and study internal Kung-Fu from Grandmaster Wang Jie and his son Wang Huai Xiang in Taipei. Wang family introduced him into a few important Tai Ji Quan techniques whose purpose was to build up the inner energy structure and align it with the energy field of the Earth. Mr Wang suggested that if the unity with the Earth is achieved, one will understand the principle behind any Kung-Fu style and whatever one does will become effective.
The practice of those techniques produced powerful currents of Qi and many of the old emotional blockages and psychological issues came up at once. Oleg came across a significant schism, a contradiction between the way he lived before following his mind, and the way of his heart. This manifested physically as a nearly unbearable heart pain. In order to ease the pain and realise its origins, he emerged into solitary training using all the techniques he learnt before. The practice was very intense. Driven by the fear for his life he settled at the deserted beach near Hua Lien, East Coast of Taiwan with only some spare clothes and a sleeping bag. He practiced day and night, 24 hours a day.
After 7 days of such a vigorous practice in the early morning Oleg climbed Niu Shan (Cow Mountain) near the beach where he experienced a spiritual realisation. He understood that he was a fool - i.e. he did not actually know anything (referring to the intellectually acquired knowledge). This realisation relieved his pain; made him "empty" at once and able to see the uniting principle that underlined all his previous practices.
Medical Qigong
The evening after realization (after a good amount of sleep and food) Oleg found himself able to sense acupuncture points and energy centers of the body, moreover knowing how to affect them to correct the flow of Qi. It may be said that the methods he learnt to this point were "fused" together by the realisation of their underlying principle, thus giving rise to a distinct Qigong practice. Oleg called the style that he received "Ji Quan Gong" or Great Ultimate Spring Qigong which may be translated as "the energy practice following balanced stream of the clear Yin and Yang forces".
Shortly after that Oleg moved to the Christian community in Taroko mountains of central Taiwan. Continuous practice of Ji Quan Qi Gong in the mountains brought more energy and developed into increasingly sophisticated techniques of energy manipulation. One week later it led to the opening of the Microcosmic orbit - whole new body sensation, fleeting experience of bright light and complete rejuvenation. During this time he realised the essence of the techniques he learnt before and saw the wholeness of the principle behind them as it was predicted by Mr Wang.
Back to New Zealand
Straight after coming back to New Zealand Oleg left his job and continued his Qigong retreat practicing unceasingly: giving treatments, travelling to the places of power of New Zealand. Nearly two years after travelling to Taiwan he returned back to the society and entered the tertiary institution to receive a formal degree in Chinese Medicine.
Nowadays Oleg continues his training doing Qigong few hours a day. Qigong practice integrated itself with the ordinary life and became a part of it like anything else, where the life itself becomes a training.
He is currently a 4th year student clinician of the New Zealand School of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine doing Bachelor degree in Acupuncture. Oleg works as a Qigong external energy therapist and leads Qigong classes in Titirangi.
Oleg is a father of two. His work and practice is to bring people back on track to their true physical and spiritual health, help them to regain their inner strength to lead a balanced life - full of joy, creativity and happiness.
